Please come prepared with questions and time to interact with the group! \nREGISTERAbout our Presenter:\nDr. Sosipatros Boikos\nGeorgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center \nSosipatros Boikos\, MD\, is a fellowship-trained\, board-certified medical oncologist with clinical privileges at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. He is one of the most experienced sarcoma medical oncologists in the Washington\, D.C. metropolitan area\, with 11 years of experience treating sarcomas and rare tumors and more than 20 years of experience in the area of sarcoma cancer genetics and cell biology. The group will meet to talk to each other\, discuss individual GIST issues\, and get answers to questions. This will enable you to not only get some relief from the worry of GIST\, but to also help others\, as well. We are\, after all\, in the same life raft\, and we are each needed to pull together. This includes both genomics research using high-throughput gentoyping to identify oncogenic mutations and testing of new compounds in cellular and biochemical assays. Dr. Heinrich’s laboratory is particularly expert in the analysis of inhibitors of oncogenic receptor tyrosine kinases such as KIT\, PDGFRA and FLT3.
