The Cancer Support Community is hosting a free special event, The Gift of Time, for the entire community at their location on the Redondo Beach Pier (109 W. Torrance Bl., R.B. 90277) on Wednesday, July 13, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., to raise awareness for Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST), a very rare sarcoma. Sponsored by the Life Raft Group, a non-profit that serves to support, educate, and advocate for GIST patients, there will be light refreshments, face painters, balloons, and an opportunity for you to explore what the Gift of Time means to you. The Life Raft Group is excited for GIST Awareness Day and wants your help to celebrate! This day is an opportunity to stand in solidarity with those living with GIST (Gastro Intestinal Stromal Tumors) an often neglected cancer of the gastro-intestinal tract affecting 5,000 new people in the US alone every year.

The Life Raft Group is excited to celebrate the 8th anniversary of our biennial Life Fest conference, which gives patients and caregivers the opportunity to gather for a weekend of camaraderie, unique access to global leaders in the field, and a wealth of new information about the latest advances in GIST management and research.

Cost to Participate is $10 at the door and all funds are going directly to GIST. Donations are welcome.
We will be setting up a booth in Owensboro, KY. The event is ‘Friday after Five’
This takes place every Friday throughout the summer. Vendors set up booths and there are about 5 bands playing music various locations – all taking place along the riverfront.
