Our theme for Life Fest and GIST Awareness Day 2016 is the Gift of Time.
Each grain of sand in the hourglass represents a moment in time; a memory that we cherish. Early in our GIST journeys, we become aware that each grain of sand is precious, each moment that we are granted a gift. For long-term survivors, we have been blessed with many grains of sand – births, weddings, time with family and friends that we wouldn’t have had if not for life saving treatments. For family and friends, it could be moments you have shared together.
At Life Fest, we will be writing on paper grains of sand the gifts that we are celebrating and placing them on our giant hourglass. Examples could include:
- The birth of my grandchild
- Dancing at my daughter’s wedding
- Having my whole family around the table for the holidays
We invite you to leave a “virtual” gift of time message which will be posted here. It will appear on this page to share with others. If you wish your name or initials to be included, please add this to your message.
Please limit your message to 200 characters. It will appear on this page to share with others.

Gifts of Time
|As you celebrate your gifts of time, please take a moment to provide “gifts of time” to other GIST patients through your donation. With a lofty goal of raising $800,000 towards finding a cure and extending survival for GIST patients, each dollar you contribute represents a “virtual” hour of time. How many hours will you support?|
