About Rowen Seykora

Rowen is a volunteer science writer with The Life Raft Group, bringing years of combined experience in laboratory investigation and life science communication to the role. This background has given her a firsthand appreciation of how pre-clinical study establishes a foundation for direct, positive impact on patients' lives. She has worked on multiple projects investigating the relationship between several neglected infectious agents and the human immune response, with a focus on the molecular mechanisms underpinning their pathogenesis. Like many, Rowen has personally witnessed the toll that cancer and rare disease can take, and has helped loved ones navigate and advocate for their own care. This experience shaped her interest in working with The Life Raft Group, and continues to inform how she approaches volunteer work today. Going forward, she aims to continue applying her knowledge and interest in living systems to help address real-world biomedical challenges affecting patients and their families. Rowen holds a B.S. in Molecular Biology.
