Sara Rothschild, Executive Director of the LRG, also actively participated in this online event. Sara met Dr. Boikos at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) several years ago. It’s because of this introduction and Dr. Sosipatros coordination of the Pediatric and Wildtype GIST Clinic at the NIH that the LRG’s collaboration with MedStar is made possible this year. The GDOL began with an overview of GIST presented by Dr. Steves, followed by Dr. Al-Refaie presenting on the minimally invasive possibilities for GIST. Research updates and treatment options for GIST were then presented by Dr. Sosipatros. After the presentations, participants agreed on a post-event evaluation survey to have had a greater understanding of GIST and their surgical options.
