The course is designed to provide a thorough introduction to the science behind GIST. It does not require a scientific background, as all of the necessary background information will be provided through the course itself. Areas of focus include the biology of GIST, mutations, the different medications used to treat GIST, risk of recurrence, side effects management, radiology, and clinical trials. The course is divided into 5 “weeks” that mimic the original scheduling when the course was delivered live. You do not have to wait a week to take the next module, in fact you can take as much time as you like. The original participants reported that between reading the preparatory materials, watching the video, and taking the exam (optional) and each week took about 3-5 hours to complete.

The course is self-paced so you can feel free to take your time completing it – there are no time limits. It’s recommended that you read the preparatory materials prior to watching the video recording of the lecture for that week.

PLEASE NOTE: We are currently revamping our GIST Expert Training Program. You can still use the program’s current materials to learn about GIST but the exams are unavailable at present. If you have any problems with the materials, or need further information on this program, please send your concerns to
