The course is designed to provide a thorough introduction to the science behind GIST. It does not require a scientific background, as all of the necessary background information will be provided through the course itself. Areas of focus include the biology of GIST, mutations, the different medications used to treat GIST, risk of recurrence, side effects management, radiology, and clinical trials. The course is divided into 5 “weeks” that mimic the original scheduling when the course was delivered live. You do not have to wait a week to take the next module, in fact you can take as much time as you like. The original participants reported that between reading the preparatory materials, watching the video, and taking the exam (optional) and each week took about 3-5 hours to complete.

The course is self-paced so you can feel free to take your time completing it – there are no time limits. It’s recommended that you read the preparatory materials prior to watching the video recording of the lecture for that week. You can watch it as many times as you like, and when you’re ready, can take each week’s exams if you like. The weekly exams are only designed to help you understand what you need to work on and their grades don’t “count”. You can also retake them as many times as you’d like.
