Patient Story from South Korea

In May 2015, Dae Shik Kang, 62 years old, walked 430km (267 miles) to share hope and courage. While grappling with his own fears after his diagnosis, he wanted to find a way to inspire other GIST patients through action. He decided a nation-wide run for patients was how he could.

His journey started at Ddang-Keut Maeul (Village at the end of Land) and he set Asan Medical Center, Seoul, as his destination. The journey was difficult and tested his perseverance, but as Dae Shik stated “I had to reach Seoul Asan Medical Center even if I had to crawl.”
