Executive Director Sara Rothschild hit the road this February, bringing The Life Raft Group’s mission of support, education, and advocacy to GIST patients and medical professionals across Texas. During a special meet-and-greet in Irving, Sara connected with local GIST community members, sharing updates on the latest research and LRG initiatives. These gatherings are a powerful reminder that no one should navigate GIST alone. Sara also had an opportunity to connect with Cancer Support Community of Northern Texas. Sara’s Texas tour continued with visits to Baylor Scott & White Health, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Texas Oncology, and Cogent Biosciences, engaging with medical teams to ensure the patient voice remains at the center of care.

While in Texas, Sara and GISTer Billy Bough had the opportunity to share with a Cogent Biosciences medical team about the challenges that GIST patients face.

Billy had this to say about that experience:

“I am honored that Cogent chose me to represent GIST cancer patients and The Life Raft Group at this fireside chat. It’s encouraging to see that pharma and the medical community are taking interest in how GIST treatments effects patients and their families day to day lives. It is heartening to think that you’re not being seen as just another patient but a person as well. It was my pleasure to put a face to the medical chart.”
