ECPC genetics genomics testing .Why it matters for patients

Some specific types of cancer can be strongly influenced by genes, breast or prostate cancer for example. The purpose of genetic risk assessment is to identify individuals at elevated cancer risk who may benefit from genetic testing, additional screening or preventive interventions. By listening to patients personal and family stories, you can get several information on their risk to develop cancer. The European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC) strongly believes that patients must be informed in order to take an active role in the decision-making concerning their treatment and we have developed this tool to allow patients to do so.

Ecancer in collaboration with ECPC has developed this toolkit to provide patients with a comprehensive resource on genetic testing. Seven interactive modules provide key information and practical advice to support you in making informed decisions. This toolkit is already available in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish.
