The 16th annual Night to Fight Cancer (NTFC) took place on October 24th, 2019 at the Midtown Loft and Terrace in New York City. This annual event benefits The Life Raft Group’s research programs. LRG Board President Jerry Cudzil co-hosted the event with colleague, Matthew Knopman.
The LRG held a GIST Mentor training day in our offices in Wayne, NJ, in October 2019. The gallery includes photos of the new GIST Mentors, LRG staff. One of the training days was on Halloween so some of the staff dressed up. These photos were taken by David Josephy of Life Raft Group Canada.
Sara Rothschild, LRG VP Program Services, met with Othon Iliopoulos, MD, Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, to discuss how to understand and make progress in SDH-related diseases.

Raising awareness for the GIST community is important to the DeLorenzo family. Recently they held their 14th annual barbecue where friends and family gathered to fundraise for GIST research in support of The Life Raft Group.
The Chicago Area GIST Patients Support Group made history this year! This group has been meeting the longest of any LRG support group - continuously since 2002.
Dr. D’Amato’s passion for her patients guides her on this newest leg of her professional journey in Miami with mentor and GIST expert clinician and researcher, Dr. Jonathan Trent.
As a representative for the country, I would first like to identify the number of GIST cases in the country. My next task would be to raise awareness about this tumor, and let people realize that it is manageable with medical treatment.
