The Life Raft Group has developed the Women in Sarcoma program in recognition of the many women sarcoma specialists that engage with our organization and our patient and caregiver community.
Dr. Jonathan Trent, GIST Specialist at Sylvester Cancer Center and Dr. Andrew Rosenberg, also a GIST Specialist at Sylvester, have co-authored a book dedicated to sarcoma diagnosis and management with other sarcoma experts specifically for the purpose of giving oncologists a credible authority to 'go-to' for sarcoma knowledge.
Dr. Gina D'Amato, who appeared recently as moderator and contributor for the first Women in Sarcoma discussion panel, recorded a video discussing the use of liquid biopsy in sarcoma on OncTV for OncLive.
Our theme for 2020 was Hope. 2020 presented a challenge to us all, but most especially to our patients and caregivers who are seeking to survive this rare cancer. In 2020, The Life Raft Group needed to provide a lifeline to our community, and to offer them hope in the form of increased support as we navigate the challenges of living in a COVID-19 world. #GISTHope

We took some time to reflect on all we have done virtually as an organization throughout the year. In the midst of this reflection, we wanted to take a breath and say a special thank you to our Major Donors.
The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) held a webinar on February 19th, 2021 for NORD member organizations as well as leaders and staff of nonprofits organizations involved in rare diseases including pharma, patients, caregivers, and advocates.
Looking back to March 13, 2020, when we said goodbye to our normal work environment, being together, and when our world both personally and professionally changed radically.
Despite the challenges of Covid, the LRG has quickly developed new ways of working together virtually. We have kept afloat and served our community well during this dark year. These points of light show just how far we've come this year.
